Far more daunting than traveling across the dystopian wasteland of a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested America—it’’s Fashion Week in Paris. And Bella Ramsey, star of HBO’s The Last Of Us and newly minted It actor, attended the Christian Dior show in a patterned jumpsuit that looks surprisingly comfortable, corset and all.
Ramsey, who is nonbinary and open to all pronouns, paired a Dior jumpsuit patterned with (I think) a map of Paris with a black band-collared shirt with puff sleeves and a matching purse. The corseted top is a style Ramsey’s super familiar with, having dressed medieval-y for both Game of Thrones and Catherine Called Birdy. She also prefers to wear a chest binder while shooting The Last of Us.
Her fishnets add a little bit of fashion and edge above the prim shoes, and her slicked-back hair manages to be both balletic (bun) and understated. If only Ellie could play in Ramsey’s closet.
Also at the show was Ramsey’s fellow Game of Thrones alum Maisie Williams, who opted for a more pin-up punk look with dark lipstick, bondage-y boots and an old-school hairstyle and eye liner.
Gal Gadot attended in a black lace gown that I’m assuming looks great when not photographed against a black background. One must have contrast to see detail!
Meanwhile Alexandra Daddario took many of the same elements of Ramsey’s ensemble to create a much more femme look. She also slicked her hair back, but added a pop of red lipstick to heighten the sweetness of the style. She wore the same shirt as Ramsey, but her corset—of lace—is lower on her torso, emphasizing rather than flattening her curves. Same bag, but with a skirt instead of pants. Even small adjustments like these allow people to express themselves through clothes. And I just think that’s neat!
Also, and for the millionth time, corsets are not bad for you unless you lace them too tightly. Thanks!
