Taylor Swift showed up at the MTV Video Music Awards in this year’s biggest red-carpet trend: the naked dress. But not just any regular naked dress—this is a Taylor’s Version naked dress.
That means strategically placed rhinestones, a high-neck collar, and a short-short-short hemline. For makeup, Swift wore a bright red lip and sultry cat eyes. The look overall is a helluva lot sexier and glam than her previous Folklore and Red (Taylor’s Version) eras, which leaves one question: Does this mean a new Taylor Swift album cycle is upon us?
Swift is one of this year’s top nominees at the VMAs, scooping up nods in five separate categories for her 10-minute self-written and -directed video for “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version).” If it wins, it will be the longest video ever to have won best music video, leaving Swift with another record to take to the bank.
Swift released her 10-minute version of “All Too Well” as part of her personal project to rerecord all of her albums following an ownership dispute with Big Machine Records and Scooter Braun. “When I was writing the Red album, I had a favorite and it was a song called ‘All Too Well,’” Swift said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2021. “The 10-minute version of ‘All Too Well’ is what was originally written for the song, before I had to cut it down to a normal-length song.”
At a fan screening of her video, which stars Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien, Swift told ET Canada that the video was her attempt to carry out the vision her fans had already created for the song. “This is all about what the fans have turned it into,” she said. “Because it was never a single, it never had a video. It never had a visual element to it, but they pretty much created their own imaginary cinematic universe for it. So this is just me following through on what they started and what they’ve told me they want.”
