Kate Middleton is nothing if not loyal to her pointed-toe pumps. The Princess of Wales is almost always protecting her feet from the earth in pricey designer heels—preferring pairs by Gianvito Rossi, Aquazurra, and Jimmy Choo, which can retail at upwards of $700 per pair. However, for an outing on Monday, May 22, she swapped her pumps for a reliable pair of espadrilles wedges, which can mean only one thing: Summer is here.
Middleton wore the summery beige and brown Castañer wedges (specifically the Carina 80 suede and jute espadrille wedges) for an appearance at the 2023 Chelsea Flower Show at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London. She wore the shoes with a two-toned pink long-sleeve shirtdress from Me+Em with dainty buttons and chic pleats. The dress’s hem falls a few inches above the ankles, which gives the wedges a chance to be a star. She wore her chestnut hair down in soft curls and a side part, and she matched her makeup to the dress with pink cheeks and a pink lip.
Middleton is not the only royal fan of the style. Meghan Markle wore a similar pair of Castañer wedges in black while on a tour of South Africa in 2019. (The sisters-in-law are also mutual fans of Aquazurra sling-back heels.)
