Met Gala 2023 co-chair Dua Lipa has arrived on the red, white, and blue carpet, looking every inch the pop star and budding fashion leader.
As co-chair of the “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”–themed event, Lipa took the dress code—“in honor of Karl”—very seriously. The “Sweetest Pie” singer’s cream-colored Chanel gown clearly evokes iconic bouclé tweed Chanel jacket, from the signature tweed material to the contrasting black trim to the playful fringe at the hemline of the skirt. It’s also a dress that wouldn’t look out of place at last year’s Met Gala, which had a “gilded glamour” dress code, pairing a fitted corset bodice with a wide skirt and bustle.
According to Vogue, Lipa’s dress is the same design worn by Claudia Schiffer in 1992, but the gown isn’t even the most stunning element of the look. That would be the jaw-dropper of a necklace, which sets Tiffany & Co.’s new Legendary diamond on the Lucida Star necklace, making Lipa the first star to wear the incredible diamond.
The singer and vintage enthusiast is never one to be photographed in a boring outfit. She loves a trend (exposed-thong alert!) and isn’t afraid to go sheer. Sitting front row at Fashion Week, she looked totally comfortable among the couture set.
