All that glitters is not gold, as Amanda Seyfried learned the hard way at the Critics Choice Awards.
On January 15, Seyfried arrived at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles wearing a gold archival Dior Haute Couture gown made of shimmering chiffon fabric…delicate shimmering chiffon fabric that ended up “ripping and actually breaking” while the actor walked the red carpet.
“I’m just going to take off my dress,” she said as one of the dress’s sleeves literally fell down her arm on camera during an interview with Access Hollywood. “It keeps breaking…. honestly, it’s old, it’s beautiful!”
Well, it’s actually not that old. The floor-length metallic gown, which twists in the middle to create two midriff cutouts with fringed off-the-shoulder sleeves, was originally featured in Dior’s spring-summer 2020 collection, according to . Styled by Elizabeth Stewart, Seyfried paired the dress with Cartier jewelry, a bold red Lancôme lip shade, and her hair pulled back into a low ponytail with loose face-framing strands.
The actor rectified the situation in time for The Dropout to win best limited series, letting her hair down and taking the stage in a black blazer.
This is just Amanda Seyfried’s latest victory this awards season. On January 10, the Mean Girls star was absent from the Golden Globes as she earned another best actress award. The presenters sent viewers into a frenzy when they announced Seyfried was “deep in the process of creating a new musical this week.” It was later reported that Seyfried and Evan Rachel Wood are involved with a workshop for the musical version of Thelma & Louise.
