Every day, it seems, celebrities attempt to bring back a trend that we wrongfully assumed died in the ’00s. Olivia Rodrigo is just the latest to bring Y2K to the red carpet. While attending the Universal Music Group’s 65th Grammy Awards after-party, Rodrigo wore a look that could have been seen at a club circa 2006, keyhole cutout and all.
For the after-party, Rodrigo switched out of the sheer Miu Miu gown she wore to the main event and into a more relaxed black sequined minidress with long bell sleeves. (Remember how the ’70s-inspired sleeve also dominated ’00s attire?) The main feature of the dress? A large keyhole cutout at the chest, also very Y2K.
She paired the sequined ’fit with black platform heels and wore her hair down with wavy curl. For her makeup, Rodrigo wore a subtle winged liner that she paired with a bright pink lip. See the look here:
Rodrigo refuses to let the best and the worst of ’00s trends live in the past. At the 2022 Met Gala in May, her fairy-inspired look incorporated butterfly clips with light purple, the color of many Delia’s-inspired bedrooms at the time. What will Olivia Rodrigo do next? Bubble hems and owl necklaces?
