Being constantly reminded of that one role you had 20 years ago sounds annoying as hell. Which is why I’ll start with an apology to Reese Witherspoon. I’m sorry!
Now that that’s out of the way, I can assert without guilt that Witherspoon is very much giving Elle Woods in her latest hot pink look. Don’t take this the wrong way—I am in no way asking for a Legally Blonde 6 (or whatever number we’re at now). I’m simply admiring the dress (Emilia Wickstead), the hairstyle, the raspberry lip…. This entire outfit, basically, is ready for its first day at Harvard Law School with Professor Holland Taylor.
I mean:
Even the peep-toe metallic Aquazzura heels are straight out of the early aughts. Were those a gift from Warner Huntington III?? That complete bonehead.
And this pose. This pose is practically screaming, “What, like it’s hard?”
Contrary to this whole serve, the above photos are not from year 2001, but rather Monday, July 11, when the actor attended the premiere of Where the Crawdads Sing in New York City. The film, adapted from Delia Owen’s best-selling novel of the same name, was produced by Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine after the actor featured it in Reese’s Book Club in 2018, per Variety.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the premiere, Witherspoon called making the film a “dream come true.”

Witherspoon shared a video of herself getting ready for the premiere to Instagram, set to a remix of Natasha Bedingfield’s 2004 banger “Unwritten.” In the video, she hugs the novel, which is a very normal activity for a Harvard Law graduate and also a Hollywood film executive.
And here’s one last photo from the event:
Never change, Elle—er, Reese!
