New York City is a lot of things—a fashion capital, a multicultural hub, the birthplace of the cronut—but one thing it’s not is squeaky clean. That’s part of the appeal: It’s fast-paced and, therefore, a little rough around the edges. All that to say, the grimy New York streets make Kylie Jenner’s latest outfit a bold choice: The star was spotted walking around the city today wearing a pair of floor-grazing puddle pants.
Now, given Jenner has a private car service and her own security team, she probably didn’t do tons of walking around the city. But she did dare to wear baggy, floor-length jeans in Manhattan nonetheless, styling them with a cropped button-up shirt, oversized overcoat, and wrap-around sunglasses. (Gas station sunnies are all the rage with stars—haven’t you heard?) To help lift the denim off the floor, she also accessorized with sleek pointed-toe pumps.
Are her pants a practical choice for running around New York? Perhaps not. But they are right on trend: Big, baggy denim is in this season, thanks to labels such as Balenciaga, Peter Do, and R13, who have been embracing the puddle-pant silhouette. If you’re going to rock them this fall too, just make sure you wear them from car to door—just like Kylie Jenner. Or, at the very least, have a good laundromat or dry cleaner on standby.
