Doja Cat Is Bringing Spooky Season to the VMAs Red Carpet

Subtlety has never really been Doja Cat’s thing when it comes to fashion, and her barely-there spiderweb VMAs dress was no exception. Doja Cat does not play on the red carpet.

The “Woman” singer walked the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards carpet in a white Monse dress intentionally designed to look like Doja walked naked into a giant spiderweb and went with it. The gauzy white fabric clung to the artist’s body, freed the nipple, and ended in a skirt-like shape with an uneven train.

Doja emphasized her dress’s spooky season vibes as much as possible with her styling, down to the blood-red manicure. For her makeup, Doja took a Morticia Addams approach with a ghostly white eyeshadow reaching all the way to the extreme skinny eyebrow, and adding a witchy lash and over-lined lips. She stayed on-theme with her jewelry, which included a diamond cocktail ring, chandelier earrings, and an ear cuff designed to look like a spider crawling up her earlobe.

At this year’s VMAs, Doja Cat is one of the most nominated artists. The rapper is up for video of the year, artist of the year, best collaboration, best direction, and best art direction.
