For the 2022 Met Gala, Normani playfully mixed up elements of the Gilded Age silhouette and put a very modern, sexy spin on it. Bustle meets crop top; fancy hat but make it on the side. The all-black look reminds us of Naomi Campbell, with a hint of Janet Jackson.
The “Motivation” singer posed up a storm on her second Met Gala red carpet, her makeup colorful and metallic. Take a look:
Let it be known, she arrived to the red, white, and blue carpet right on time.

Last year the former Fifth Harmony member wore a bright yellow Valentino gown reminiscent of a Disney princess and accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino, the near-chartreuse dress complemented her complexion beautifully. As Normani said then to red-carpet correspondent Keke Palmer, per , “Yellow pops on dark skin. I feel regal. I feel like a queen.”
For 2022, Christian Siriano created her two-piece look and posted a video of the outfit in action on Instagram, writing, “🖤🎩🔥 #metgala #normani in Siriano! Thank you Anna and the entire @voguemagazine team!” The choker evokes the Gilded Eras high collars, and the sleeves are definitely dramatic, if not historical.

Other Met Gala gals to wear black this year include Phoebe Dynevor and Maude Apatow.
“I just love this look,” Normani told Vogue’s livestream host La La Anthony, per “[Siriano] was so patient with me. I know I can be a bit of a challenge, but we really collaborated and I feel so beautiful.”
She continued. “I love that he was really willing to go and break the rules. I have my stomach out.”
As for her upcoming music, Normani said, “You can expect that uptempo that you are all are waiting for. I know what the people want.” Yes, you do!
