Dakota Johnson definitely has the girlfriend-of-a-famous-rocker look down pat. On Wednesday, October 4, the Fifty Shades left her Malibu home to make a rare public appearance in Laurel Canyon with Coldplay front man Chris Martin, her boyfriend (and rumored fiancé) of nearly six years. The special occasion? Her 34th birthday.

In new photos, the two can be seen smiling with friends as they enjoyed a meal on the patio at celebrity-favorite Italian restaurant Pace.

Dakota Johnson epitomized effortless fall fashion in a pair of black leather pants and an oversized denim jacket with a brown contrast collar. She finished the look with a pair of white sneakers and wore her long brown hair in loose waves. Martin, on the other hand, opted for a gray beanie and a T-shirt emblazoned with “Love Is the Drug,” a lyric from the Coldplay song “Hymn for the Weekend.” As the habitually private couple headed to their car after dinner, Martin made sure to hold the door for Johnson in true husband-material fashion.

Martin and Johnson generally prefer to spend most of their time at his $12.5 million Malibu home, except when she accompanies him on tour. The birthday dinner comes mere days after Johnson and her mother, Melanie Griffith, were spotted at Coldplay’s Rose Bowl concert in Pasadena, California. Also spied at the show? Selena Gomez, who appeared onstage for a surprise performance. All in all, it sounds like Dakota Johnson had a fantastic birthday week.
